Was in Flagstaff for a long weekend and had no intention on coming here but I'm so glad we did! I've had mead before and my response was always "it's...fine".... read more That's because I've never had the Drinking Horn experience! The Drinking Horn Meadery takes you back to the days of Vikings and glorious feasts and wrestling dragons. From now on, I only want mead if it rises to the level that DH provides.
The interior of the place is just perfect. From the banquet tables to the helmets and weapons on the wall, the stone fireplace to the giant horns to drink out of-this place just gets it. After drinking here we felt like real Vikings so we immediately raided and pillaged Sedona. It was glorious.
After we burned down Sedona, we returned to DH the next day. We bought bottles of Mead to take home with us to Tucson. There, we will teach the people how to make real mead and be real Vikings. We will burn down the city and begin anew, building a village of honorable MEN teaching their sons to hunt with bow and arrow. Women will teach their daughters to sew and cook and clean. We will feast and drink and be merry like our ancestors before us.
Ok, my wife told me I have to stop.
This place is really great. Go there and give them all of your money.
8/12/2023So dang good! It was our first time and we got a full flight w/ 6 different flavors. our favorite is Root Be-ah!! I do wish they had a food... read more menu, other than that the flavors were great and service was top tier. We will definitely come back
1/14/2024I lived in Flagstaff for about a year and thoroughly enjoyed this place. I was a frequent visitor and tried all the flavors. Unfortunately, I moved away. I had a... read more wedding this summer and decided to ship some to the newlyweds. The delivery of it was screwed up due to UPS. Even though the UPS customer service was crappy, the Drinking Horn Customer service was outstanding. They offered a full refund or a new delivery at no charge. They communicated in a timely manner and were very friendly. The newlyweds got their mead and I am thoroughly impressed and satisfied with the Drinking Horn Meadery. 5 Stars all the way around and would highly suggest the Drinking Horn Meadery in Flagstaff or getting it shipped to wherever you live.
8/11/2023We got the full flight mead. The unicorn Blood was my favorite! Pro tip: there's a $6 off any taster flight if you get a card from the Welcome center... read more in Flagstaff. I'll have to go back to use mine 🙂

We had pizza and wings. They were great and the gentleman that took our order was so nice and friendly. We tried the local brews and liked them very much.... read more Would highly recommend
6/22/2024Such a great find in downtown Flagstaff! This Meadery has so many different flavors on the menu. They also have mead inspire cocktails. Highly recommend you try the flight, so... read more you can sample the different varieties that they offer.
1/25/2024The concept is great and the mead tastes decent, but the atmosphere can use some improvements. It's way too bright, like a cafeteria. Make it dark with stone or brick... read more walls and add some candlelight. This will fit better with the mead theme.
7/23/2024This was a really fun place! I really am not much of a drinker at all but whenever I see a place that serves Mead, I am there! You walk... read more in and there are tables and a fireplace as well as a bar where you can try their wonderful selection. They also have all of their current selections listed on a board above the bar.
Service was really friendly from the nice man behind the counter. He helped us pick out which things should go in our flight. The flight was also amazing! Just a good time and really good to sample all of their best stuff.
Just an overall great and relaxing place to enjoy some mead. Definitely not something you can enjoy just anywhere. Come here to enjoy something new and different that hopefully will gain more popularity around the country.

I love mead and it is not something that is easy to find. The meads that we sampled at Drinking Horn were all good, and we took some with us.... read more Nice staff. We had a good time!
11/29/2023Great place with real atmosphere and the Meads are a lot of fun. Had to buy the horn to drink from. A few of the meads on tap with a... read more little fizz was a great idea - wish more meaderies did this! You have to go out for food but they are right next door and pretty quick. Viking decor and some epic drinking horns if ya wanna drop some cash. All of the Meads are sweet. I like a drier style too and they don't have. Only slight imperfection. Grab some pizza next door and grab a horn. SKOL!
3/29/2024Was fairly disappointed in the vibe/service here. We called ahead to see if children were welcome and they said of course, but surely treated us differently. We picked a table... read more away from the crowd and the server just walked by and left menus on the table without saying a single word. We stopped him and asked if that table was fine and he said yes. We get settled and a few minutes later another employee comes by and asks us to move for an event they have. Um, ok- the other guy couldn't have said something? First guy comes back to our new table and just stares at us (awkward....) so we proceed to order the sampler and ask a few questions on which is better where he proceeds to point us to the page with descriptions- cool, helpful. In the meantime, he was standing behind the bar chatting with folks like he knew them their entire lives. We quickly drank our samples, ordered a to go bottle and got out of there so fast. Don't recommend this place for tourists or families, they clearly cater to the locals only. Get a bottle to go (it was good) and save yourself the awkwardness.
4/29/2024It was pretty laid back as we walked in, we were greeted in the perfect amount of time. The decor was just right for the ambiance they were looking to... read more create. No clutter at all which is something I look for because the focus should be on the mead. We decided to dive in head first and we ordered the canoe which had a generous sample of all the Meads available. It was awesome we went from Traditional to Mango Reaper to Merka and the list goes on. The selection has something for everyone and the staff will share their knowledge and recommendations for you. Come enjoy the preferred drink of Beowulf to King Arthur's court. Prices are reasonable. No food served but you can have some delivered from a local spot. On my next visit a shall partake from the horn.

I always stop by to grab a bottle or two when I'm in flag. Would love to sit in and hang out but that'll be a trip where I don't... read more happen to bring my dog.
Everyone is always friendly and love to see what seasonal or special concoctions they have.
They had a perfect gift basket which I picked up that contained 2 bottles, 2 horn cups, and 2 tokens to be redeemed at a later time for 1 dollar pours.
12/03/2023Dropped in on a Thursday to try some mead. Had some great ones with a variety of flavors. Ended up getting a bottle of the "vintage" mango reaper to... read more go, haven't tried it yet but I know the glass I had was great.
Colby served us and was excellent. Knew his stuff and gave great recommendations. This dude is going places. Talked about having a board at the spot for the other barkeeps to put their own recommendations and recommended mixtures to combine a few flavors. My advice to the manager: capitalize on this! Shows their initiative and can't really have a "bad" outcome.
Overall, great place and super glad we stopped in. Thanks Colby and gang, goodluck!
9/21/2024Where was this place when I was a college student? I recently returned to Flagstaff for a college reunion and decided to wander downtown for a few drinks and found... read more Drinking Horn Meadery on Route 66 near San Francisco. I always enjoy a good mead, so I wandered in for a beverage. There is only street parking near the place, so be prepared to walk a bit.
The interior of the meadery looks like an old Viking hall with wood tables and décor that invokes a post-plundering Smörgåsbord. The theme was continued by the presence of some costumed individuals from the Oktoberfest party. I took a seat at the bar and looked over the large menu. Their mead is based on using local honey flavored with many different ingredients. On my trip, they were also partnering with Proper Meats next door for food orders.
I chose a wonderful prickly pear mead which was a good use of the unique fruit. The mead is strong with a little natural sparkle. Flavoring can help those not used to the unique taste of naturally brewed mead. Many people choose the flights or samplers, or the brave ones can drink from the horn! This is a great option for Flagstaff and is pretty popular cementing its popularity.
If you are looking for something fun on your weekend trip to Flagstaff or when heading to the Grand Canyon, Drinking Horn Meadery is one of those fun and unique local watering holes that will make your adventure complete.

We sat at the bar... read more and were greeted by Colby the friendly and knowledgeable bartender who helped us make the right choices.
