Vibes are awesome, food is amaze. The decor is next level and honestly to find a spot like this in Flagstaff AZ is quite the nice surprise for a passerby.... read more The staff is hella friendly and we're definitely making our way back. The locals seem to come here it so if you're like us and wanna experience travel like a regular hit up Cornish Pasty (not pastry)
8/03/2023The Drinking Horn has such high reviews on Yelp, but I honestly don't think it's worth the hype!
PROS:
- The medieval vibe to the shop is very... read more fun and neat.
- Service is very kind and attentive. They checked in on us the perfect amount!
- They have gotten creative with their flavor selection.
CONS
- Samplers/tastings are pricey.
- I only ended up loving one flavor and then liking one other flavor. Not a high success rate!
I have had much better mead before. The Drinking Horn is a nice local spot for college students, but for tourists - I'd recommend skipping this place and ordering another Happy Hour cocktail somewhere else.
7/17/2023Travel back to the past in this meadery! They really go all out in creating what I think is Viking vibe, sans the lighting. The lights are normal and you... read more can clearly see where you are; you're not going to feel your way around the room.
First, they have so many meads! Luckily, the menu is really helpful in describing what each of the mead's flavor is like so you can go with the ones that you think would please your taste buds. They have flights and I highly recommend that if this is your first time here so that you get a variety of their wonderful mead. You can go crazy and get a flight of 30 (all their meads) if you so choose.
I especially enjoyed the spicy meads!
No food here.
8/06/2023This was a pretty cool experience! My husband and I came in looking to try something a little out of the ordinary. We have a friend who is learning how... read more to make mead, and we wanted to try what it's actually supposed to taste like lol.
The inside has this medieval vibe that's pretty unique and on-brand for the mead. There was some sort of board game tournament going on the day we came in, which I thought was a good sign seeing locals and regulars in here. The staff was alright, sort of like an Uber driver who doesn't talk, which isn't a bad thing whatsoever.
We got a flight to try out as many flavors as we could. We definitely found some that we liked more than others. I was a little surprised at how expensive the flight was, but I don't get out too much, maybe that's just how much flights cost. But either way, it was a good way to find your favorite and stick with it.
Overall, cool and unique place! Would recommend.

This was a really fun place! I really am not much of a drinker at all but whenever I see a place that serves Mead, I am there! You walk... read more in and there are tables and a fireplace as well as a bar where you can try their wonderful selection. They also have all of their current selections listed on a board above the bar.
Service was really friendly from the nice man behind the counter. He helped us pick out which things should go in our flight. The flight was also amazing! Just a good time and really good to sample all of their best stuff.
Just an overall great and relaxing place to enjoy some mead. Definitely not something you can enjoy just anywhere. Come here to enjoy something new and different that hopefully will gain more popularity around the country.

7/27/2023Quiet, small, reserve interior with room to spread out.
I loved it so much I got suckered into buying the horn. It's pretty cool though.
I've... read more never tried mead. But after the visit, it got me researching where I could buy more back in my home town. Many different flavors with the ability to taste a few. It's delicious. My wife even enjoyed it, and we walked out with two bottles. Great place! It's always worth an initial try. Made from honey, super smooth and at 13% you can't go wrong. I thought it would hit harder, but it doesn't.
Support them, it's delicious!
6/15/2023I lived in Flagstaff for about a year and thoroughly enjoyed this place. I was a frequent visitor and tried all the flavors. Unfortunately, I moved away. I had a... read more wedding this summer and decided to ship some to the newlyweds. The delivery of it was screwed up due to UPS. Even though the UPS customer service was crappy, the Drinking Horn Customer service was outstanding. They offered a full refund or a new delivery at no charge. They communicated in a timely manner and were very friendly. The newlyweds got their mead and I am thoroughly impressed and satisfied with the Drinking Horn Meadery. 5 Stars all the way around and would highly suggest the Drinking Horn Meadery in Flagstaff or getting it shipped to wherever you live.

Amazing mead, great decorations, clean bathrooms, and they allow outside food! This is a fantastic place to chill or have gatherings for large groups. This place will only grow in... read more popularity both in store and through their online store.
7/30/2023This place caught my eye last weekend when my friend and I were driving through downtown Flagstaff, so when I realized we had about half an hour to kill before... read more we could check into our Airbnb, this was a logical stop. I'd been to one other meadery before about a year ago in the lower Hudson River Valley in NY, and while I liked the place itself, the mead wasn't great - I thought it honestly tasted like honeycomb mixed with rump (they had other options there, thankfully). This was definitely better.
One piece of constructive feedback for Drinking Horn - it feels more like a museum than a gathering place. There's A LOT of empty space in the room and on the walls, and for me just didn't feel very comfortable. I don't claim to be an expert on the Middle Ages or Nordic/Viking shizzle, but I have to think a mead hall from that time period would have been homey and cluttered, kind of like a pub. We were able to easily secure spots by a TV showing a fireplace (another easy fix, depending on the time of year - an actual fireplace instead of a flat screen), and the woman manning the front was very friendly and personable. Definitely no issues there.
The one other meadery I've been to literally just had the one honey-ish flavor, so I was impressed by the sheer amount of options. Admittedly I was swayed by some of the names, so when I ordered my small mead flight (three samples), I went with Unicorn Blood, Mango Reaper and the more normal Strawberry. The Mango Reaper was my favorite by far. As its name implies, it had both a sweet and spicy edge and tasted an awful lot like a cocktail infused with ghost pepper. That's definitely one I'd get again. The Unicorn Blood was pretty tasty as well (on the fruitier side), but surprisingly the weak link was Strawberry, which I figured was the safest bet. For me at least, it tasted too much like cough syrup to be enjoyable. Also a cool touch - each flavor was labeled with a symbol (Norse I'm assuming, but I don't know for sure), and the flight had a cool feature with you could remove and attach the applicable symbol to the appropriate flight. I've had my share of wine flights before, but the optics on this particular one were very unique and innovative.
I don't have a lot of comps for this, but I think the small flight was around $10, possibly even less. Given that we were just hanging out for a while to get a nip, that seemed like a pretty reasonable price point. This was one of my favorite stops in Flagstaff, and certainly an establishment that set itself apart from the multitude of restaurants in the neighborhood.
